What is included in the estimated price?

The price includes everything you want as a client and that we agree on before the work begins - precise mowing of the chosen area or hedge trimming, tidying up the rest of the garden, trees and edges, cleaning all paths and other surfaces, and of course removal of the green waste.

Question 2

Do I need to be at home while you work?

Accepted Answer

If we have unobstructed access to the property, you don't need to be there. Simply give us access and, if needed, use of water and electricity. Once the job is done, you always receive photos of the result - standard practice for holiday homes and remote plots.

Question 3

Do you also take care of green waste (branches, leaves, hedge clippings)?

Accepted Answer

Of course. By prior arrangement we remove all green waste, such as hedge clippings, grass cuttings and leaves. We also make sure it is properly handed over for composting and recycling.

Question 4

Which area do you cover?

Accepted Answer

We mainly work in Ljubljana and the Central Slovenia region, as well as in Gorenjska and Dolenjska. By prior arrangement we are also happy to take on larger projects elsewhere in Slovenia.

Question 5

Do you also mow slopes and overgrown plots?

Accepted Answer

Yes. We also maintain steep slopes, overgrown plots and abandoned gardens. For this kind of work we use brush cutters and suitable equipment, and we recommend a short free on-site visit beforehand to agree on scope and price.

What happens if it rains or the weather is bad?

Accepted Answer

Quality mowing and neat trimming require the right conditions. In case of bad weather we contact you in good time and reschedule the work for the next suitable date.

When is the best time to trim a hedge?

Accepted Answer

The timing depends mainly on the type of hedge. For most evergreen hedges the main trimming season runs from spring to late summer, but the exact timing varies with the plant and the weather.

Boxwood is usually shaped in spring and then, if needed, once more in summer. Cypresses and other fast-growing conifers are best trimmed during active growth, roughly from April to August. We never cut deep into old, brown wood without green shoots, as most conifers will not regrow from it.

Cherry laurel is more flexible. It is usually shaped first in spring, with a second maintenance trim in late summer or early autumn, so the hedge looks tidy again before winter. Cherry laurel also tolerates harder pruning than most cypresses.

With every hedge it is important to adapt the trimming to the weather. Dry, not too hot days are best, as this reduces stress on the plants and the risk of certain diseases developing or spreading. This is especially important for boxwood because of box blight.

Before trimming we always check whether there are active bird nests in the hedge, and if there are, we postpone the work.

If you want your hedge to stay dense, evenly shaped and healthy, adapting the timing and method to the species, its growth and the current weather matters more than a strict calendar date.

How often should a hedge be trimmed?

There is no single right number for every hedge. How often it needs trimming depends on the plant species, growth rate, desired height and shape, and how neat you want it to look.

Fast-growing hedges such as cherry laurel may need several trims during the growing season, while slower-growing plants need fewer. For formally shaped hedges, several smaller maintenance trims are usually better than one hard cut after a long period of neglect.

A practical rule of thumb: trim the hedge when new growth starts to change its desired shape - not when it is already badly overgrown.

With regular maintenance the plant stays denser, the work is quicker and the final result is more even.

What happens if a hedge goes untrimmed for too long?

If a hedge is not trimmed for several years, the shoots can turn woody and the plant starts to lose its dense growth, especially inside and at the bottom. Some species, particularly cypresses and other conifers, cannot simply be rejuvenated later with a hard cut, as they often won't regrow from older wood.

That is why, with heavily overgrown hedges, cutting them straight back to the desired height and width is not always the best solution. It is often better to reduce height and width gradually, taking into account the species and its ability to regrow.

If a hedge has already far outgrown its desired shape, it makes sense to first assess how much it can be safely reduced.

Question 10

How often should a lawn be mowed?

In the main growing season, from April to June, we recommend mowing every 10 to 14 days. In summer, when growth slows down, once every three weeks is enough. For a tidy look all year round, regular maintenance on a suggested schedule works best.
